Upon that Star, I Pray

Upon that star of distant sky, I tell the stories of our lives.
Witness to some tears or more, some ‘laughs’ and ‘smiles’ and many more
Four years of coming and keeping together made us see
The sweets and bitters of life at bay
I wish upon that star, we part not now, no … not today.
“Oh, hear me …” I always pray
With every day that passes by, the more we hate the word “goodbye”
Our days together don’t get any longer; our really frantic thoughts go deeper
Our ‘asaran’ and ‘tampuhan’ will never leave each thought
Wherever life may bring us now, as always will be
I wish upon that star, we part not now, no … not today.
“Please, grant my pray’rs” I always say
We came together like what does a dove; we were secured together by love
Time may fail to apprehend our bond, we never fail to return to what we fond
At times, we offend some, at times, we neglect wisdom
But life is life in that sense, for that’s its nature … not always gay
And that I wish upon that star, we part not now, no… not today.
“Oh. Hear me …” I always pray.
But comes a whisper to me ear, a thought, a thought so dire to hear
Yet it insists and it persists still, left me no choice, it just prevail
I know what it says, and it’s the soon ‘goodbye’
It deafens me, it weakens our souls… it cannot lie
And that I wish upon that start, give us the strength to face “GOODBYE”
“Oh. Hear me …” tonight I cry
Yet fate declares a forlorn change, a truth to face though sadness reigns
Though against our will indeed, we soon be parted to grow they said
We’ve got to go, we’ve got to let go
Of the strong chain of togetherness, that’ll just hinder our maturity
And that I wish upon that star, we soar up high forever more, not just this day.
“Oh, hear me my star…” to you I PRAY.
